The finale of NCIS: Los Angeles left some storylines open-ended and didn't provide certain callbacks. Executive producer R. Scott Gemmill shared that they would have resolved the Kessler storyline and explored an arc with Kilbride and his son in another season, but they didn't have enough time. Gemmill expressed his desire to bring back many characters, including Barrett Foa, Linda Hunt, and John M. Jackson, for a big family reunion. He also revealed that he would have liked to explore why Hetty was overseas and follow through with the Kilbride storyline. Gemmill speculates that Sam or Callen could move into the private sector, while Kensi may stay with NCIS and Deeks could become a stay-at-home dad. Finally, he praised the addition of younger agents to the team, which gave a fresh perspective on what our main characters may have been like when they were young agents.
