A whale watching tour off the coast of San Francisco got the experience of a lifetime when they encountered a group of twenty orcas, a rare sight indeed. Naturalist Michael Pierson decided to change their usual route and head towards the Farallon Islands, where they were treated to sightings of blue whales and humpbacks. They then spotted a group of orcas and were amazed to realize that there were at least 20 of them, including several matriarchs and adult males. The encounter lasted for nearly an hour and was described as a one-of-a-kind experience.
