In the latest episode of NCIS Season 20, "Second Opinion," Palmer's college roommate Bower appears as an annoying know-it-all who causes problems in finding a killer. During an elevator conference, Agent Knight helps Palmer realize that he should believe in himself and focus on the good things in his life, including his relationship with her. However, the episode misses an opportunity for a Ducky appearance. While Palmer remembers an old case he worked with Dr. Mallard, it would have been a suitable moment for Ducky to put Bower in his place with his years of experience. Ducky has had a reduced role in recent seasons but made two appearances in Season 20.
