Josh Stewart, who played detective Will LaMontagne Jr. in Criminal Minds, announced on social media that he will not be returning for the second season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. Stewart had portrayed the character since 2007 and appeared in guest and recurring roles throughout the series. In the revival series, his character was facing a cancer scare, but his fate for the upcoming season remains unknown.
Criminal Minds first aired in 2005 and follows FBI criminal profilers who use behavioral analysis and criminal profiling to solve crimes. The original series ran for 15 seasons and spawned spin-offs and video games. Criminal Minds: Evolution, which brings back many original cast members, including Joe Mantegna and Paget Brewster, will return for its second season on Paramount+ later this year. The new season will see the team face their biggest case yet as they hunt down a network of serial killers built during the pandemic.
