Unlock the Secrets of NCIS Hawaii: Meet the Cast and Unravel the Characters That Will Keep You Hooked!
07/08/2023

NCIS: Hawai'i is the latest installment in the NCIS franchise, and with it comes a new cast of characters for audiences to come to know and love. The NCIS: Hawai'i cast ranges from industry veterans to unfamiliar faces, all of which come together to form a cast of crime solvers. As the fourth installment of the NCIS franchise, NCIS: Hawai'i follows a group of main-landers as they are transplanted to the NCIS Pearl Harbor station in Hawai'i. The station is helmed by special agent in charge Jane Tennant, who has been tasked with putting together a team to bring with her on her new assignment.

The NCIS: Hawai'i cast focuses on solving naval-based crimes. However, the series also focuses on the balance between duty and family, the struggles of being a female agent in a male-dominated field, and mysteries that are unique to Hawai'i. NCIS: Hawai'i also marks the first time that a spin-off of the NCIS franchise has been helmed by a woman: Special Agent Jane Tennant. The closest the series has come before was the pilot for NCIS: Red, where Kim Rover co-starred, but wasn't picked up. Now, Jane Tennant joins the likes of Special Agent Leroy Gibbs, G. Callen and Sam Hanna, and Dwayne Pride as the special agent in charge.

Vanessa Lachey As Jane Tennant

Jane Tennant of the NCIS: Hawai'i cast is everything NCIS needs in a leading character; she's confident, capable, and multi-faceted. As the first female special agent in charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor, Jane Tennant is balancing her life between fighting for her rightful place in a male-dominated field and raising her children, Julie and Alex Tennant. Sometimes, that means Black Hawk helicopters interrupt her daughter's soccer games. While learning how to manage 40 agents and her children after her recent divorce, Jane has to tackle cases ranging from mysterious aircraft crashes to WWII-era cold cases. Jane ended her season 2 arc after being kidnapped and tortured by Adrian Creel.

Jane was luckily found by Kate and Sam Hanna (NCIS: Los Angeles). She tried to make sure he was arrested and sent to the mainland for questioning, but after she and Maggie lured him out into the open, Maggie ended up killing him for good this time and fleeing the scene directly after. Jane Tennant is played by Vanessa Lachey. Lachey, former Miss Teen USA and the wife of 98 Degrees lead-singer Nick Lachey, has previously held roles in series like 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, and Hawaii Five-O. Lachey has also appeared in movies like Disaster Movie and hosted television reality series like Love is Blind.

Alex Tarrant As Kai Holman

Kai Holman of the NCIS: Hawai'i cast was a native of Hawai'i, born and raised in Waimanalo, but after his mother's death, Kai left the islands to join the Marines. After rising through the ranks and spending three years with the Criminal Investigation Division, Holman requested a placement at NCIS Pearl Harbor after learning that his father has fallen ill. Holman is a highly qualified agent, having beat out over 50 other agents to be hand-selected for the team by Jane Tennant. Season 2 saw a lot for Kai, between working on his strained relationship with his father and being targeted by his former friend-turned-criminal AJ Hale.

Thankfully, Kai escaped season 2 in one piece, and his interactions with Adriana hint that a romance could be blossoming for season 3. Alex Tarrant is a serious veteran of both the stage and the screen. Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Tarrant has appeared in projects around the world, including When We Go To War, Filthy Rich, and the 2021 film Night Raiders. Tarrant also had a six-episode stint on Amazon's Rings of Power cast as Valandil.
