Pepito, an abused Chihuahua, weighing only eight pounds, is now safe at the Foothills Animal Shelter. He was found in terrible condition by an Animal Control officer during a late-night call to his house. The officer rushed Pepito to Evolutions Veterinary Specialists where he was stabilized. The next morning, he was taken to Foothills Animal Shelter. The shelter's veterinarian, Dr. Vaiden, examined Pepito and found signs of head trauma, as well as burns and eye damage. Despite his injuries, Pepito's spirit is improving each day. He is walking, responding to his name, and regaining vision in one eye. Although he may have permanent scars and brain damage, Pepito's loving nature gives him a bright future filled with love and dignity. An animal cruelty charge has been filed against his alleged abuser.
