Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay has opened up about the "catastrophic thinking" she developed following her mother Jayne Mansfield's tragic death in a car accident when Hargitay was just three years old. Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Hargitay shared that she has learned to "lean into" loss and overcome the darkness by embracing it. She also praised her mother as an intelligent woman who loved dogs and played the violin, in addition to being a glamorous sex symbol.
