Renowned author Stephen King has shown his support for the Idris Elba series Hijack. Premiering on Apple TV+ on June 28, Hijack is a thrilling seven-part miniseries that follows the story of Sam Nelson, played by Elba, a skilled business negotiator who finds himself in a high-stakes situation when his flight from Dubai to London is hijacked. The star-studded cast includes Neil Maskell, Eve Myles, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Archie Panjabi, Ben Miles, and Kate Phillips.
King, having recently praised HBO's The Wire, in which Elba also starred, expressed his agreement with Bev Vincent's recommendation of Hijack on Apple TV+.
Interestingly, King's endorsement of Elba's work comes after a less successful adaptation of his own novel, The Dark Tower. Elba portrayed the Gunslinger Roland Deschain in the 2017 film adaptation, which aimed to kick off a film franchise based on King's renowned series of novels.
However, King's appreciation for Elba's talent in Hijack and The Wire demonstrates his admiration for the actor. With his influential status, there is a possibility that King could endorse Elba for future projects that align with his skills. Although King doesn't have a direct say in casting decisions, his support could potentially open doors for Elba in future adaptations of King's work. With King's seal of approval, fans can hope for a more prosperous collaboration between the two in the future.
