Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay has shared a celebratory post in honor of season 24's filming wrap ahead of its final episodes. Hargitay has appeared in the series as Olivia Benson since the very first episode, maintaining her lead role throughout the series' lengthy run. She is expected to continue her role with Law & Order: SVU getting renewed for season 25.
Now, Hargitay has taken to Instagram to celebrate the filming wrap for Law & Order: SVU season 24.
Her post underscores how thankful she is to be part of the series and tell the many stories the show has tackled over the decades. She also highlights how it was a team effort to get the series to where it is today.
Law & Order: SVU was renewed alongside Law & Order and Law & Order: Organized Crime earlier this month. Hargitay's gratefulness for the journey she's had on the series so far means she likely isn't going anywhere anytime soon, no matter how long the series lasts. In March, Ice-T reinforced his Law & Order future, saying he wants to continue to play Detective Fin Tutuola on the show for as long as he can.
The Law & Order franchise still maintains strong viewership numbers, which is why the franchise as a whole has been able to continue for so long. Because of this, there is seemingly no end in sight for its three currently-airing series, which are likely to resume for many years to come. While it's unclear just how long Hargitay will continue to portray Benson, she doesn't seem keen on exiting the franchise just yet.
With Law & Order: SVU season 25 on the horizon, there's no telling the kinds of crimes and storylines the show will be exploring. No matter what happens, though, Hargitay is likely to be the face of the series for a long time to come. Her gratefulness at being able to work on Law & Order: SVU for so long highlights just how important the series is to her, as well as her role within it.
