The perfect spinoff of The Vampire Diaries was missed, but there is still hope for it to happen after seven years. The Vampire Diaries, based on the novels by L.J. Smith, ran from 2009 to 2017 and gained a massive following. Creator Julie Plec used this success to produce The Originals, a spinoff that followed the original family in a more mature and darker way.
Plec then created Legacies, another spinoff focusing on the next generation of witches, werewolves, and vampires.
However, a spinoff centered around Jeremy's life as a vampire hunter would have been the ideal choice. Jeremy grew as a character throughout the series and had the potential for further development outside of Mystic Falls.
Jeremy's exit from the show already set up the foundation for the spinoff with his decision to hunt vampires in Santa Fe. This spinoff would offer creative freedom and the possibility of familiar characters from the original show making guest appearances.
A spinoff focused on Jeremy would also have less limitations compared to other potential spinoffs due to his human status. It would attract a larger audience, especially fans of the original series who were not as pleased with Legacies.
