Leonard's Ex-Girlfriend On The Big Bang Theory Looks Completely Unrecognizable After Losing Over 50-Pounds
2023/11/07

Getting a guest star to appear on The Big Bang Theory was a lot easier once the show became an obvious hit. However, Johnny Galecki once revealed he had to go out of his way and corner a guest star in order for him to agree to be on the show.

In truth, Galecki worked with lots of guest stars, one of them was Aarti Mann. Galecki discussed what it was really like working for Mann, and it was a positive experience.

There was another guest star that we're going to take a closer look at, Sara Rue. We're going to detail her time on the show, and how she was able to make a dramatic transformation. In addition, we're going to reveal what the actress has been up to since leaving The Big Bang Theory.

Sara Rue Lost More Than 50-Pounds Getting Ready For Her Wedding

She was known as Dr. Stephanie Barnett during her time on The Big Bang Theory. During Rue's involvement, she was paired with Johnny Galecki, playing his romantic love interest, briefly. After her cameo took place, Rue underwent quite the transformation.

That was especially evident after People had posted the article, Sara Rue wears a bikini for first time ever. In the article, Rue explained that she always had a tough time keeping weight off, but a certain diet plan changed things.

"It's hard. It's a struggle. There are days where I'll say, 'I feel off the rails.' But I don't give myself excuses," Rue said about Jenny Craig's maintenance plan.

She continues, "I try not to eat animal protein after 7:30 p.m.," she says. "And when I make pasta, I layer the bottom of the bowl with fresh spinach. That way you're having the pasta, but with half the carbs."

Not only did Rue drop the weight years ago, but she continues to live a healthy lifestyle these days as evidenced by Instagram.

Credit to Rue for not only the transformation, but keeping consistent despite starting a family.

Sara Rue Was Strictly Brought On As A Guest-Star And Left The Big Bang Theory Once Her Storyline Ended

There wasn't a direct reason for Sara Rue's exit on The Big Bang Theory, aside from the fact that she was simply on the show on an episode per episode basis as a guest star. The same situation took place with another Leonard love interest on the show, Aarti Mann.

The actress wanted to stay on for longer, but nothing long-term was ever offered. It seems like the same ordeal took place for Rue. Questions of why Sara Rue left The Big Bang Theory seem to be strictly because of storyline purposes.

Express explains, "After a conversation with Penny (Kaley Cuoco), Leonard suggested they try and take things slower, which was met by a furious reaction by Stephanie. As a result, Leonard ended their relationship and turned his attention to his neighbor Penny."

The publication continues, "Rue's time on The Big Bang Theory simply came to an end as her character's story was over.

She had always been signed to for a "multi-episode run" and not in a recurring for main cast role."

Despite her departure from the show, Rue enjoyed success elsewhere, particularly making cameos on other shows.

Sara Rue Is Loving The Mom LIfe, And Recently Appeared On The Rookie

Along with starting a family, Rue kept busy in Hollywood following her Big Bang Theory experience. Among the notable projects from her past include the film Pearl Harbour, way before her time on The Big Bang Theory. In the recent years, she appeared in five episodes of The Rookie, along with three episodes of Will & Grace. In terms of recurring role, she got that experience on Impastor, taking part in 20 episodes.

Alongside Du Jour, Sara Rue discussed her new dark comedy at the time, and how she landed the role.

"How it all got started was my agent gave me a few scripts at once actually. There was one that was a weird, dark FX show, and one that was a TV Land show. So I read the weird, dark one first and I was like, I don't need to read another one, I love this one lets go after it. It turns out the one that I thought was the weird, dark FX one was the weird, dark TV Land one I just had no idea."

She continues, "So, there was a little bit of a confusion there but once we figured it out they sent me the information on the show and I was like 'No, no, no, I like the one about the pastor!' and they were like 'That's TV Land!' and I was like 'There's cursing and smoking, there's no way it's TV Land!' and they told me 'It is!"

As for her current roles, Rue's Instagram bio suggests she's on strike with the other actors. It remains to be seen what's next for the former Big Bang Theory star.
