Salma Hayek honored her late co-star Matthew Perry with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. Perry, who passed away at the age of 54, starred alongside Hayek in the 1997 romantic comedy Fools Rush In. Hayek shared several pictures of the pair and expressed her sadness at the news, describing the special bond that is formed when working towards shared dreams.
She also included a quote from Perry, reflecting on Fools Rush In as his best movie. In the film, Perry played Alex Whitman, a New York City project manager, and Hayek portrayed Isabel Fuentes, a free-spirited Mexican-American photographer. The story follows their spontaneous night together, resulting in Isabel getting pregnant.
Despite Isabel's intention to raise the child on her own, Alex pursues a relationship, leading to marriage and plenty of romance and humor. Hayek recalled the nostalgia and gratitude shared between her and Perry over the years and expressed her desire to remember him for his silliness, perseverance, and lovely heart.
Perry had previously discussed the making of the film in his memoir, highlighting the guidance of director Andrew Tennant and his own sense of accomplishment in the role.
