A group of kittens rescued in Los Angeles and now in a foster home has found an unexpected stepfather. Kyla Lodwig's cat, Bundy, took on the role of caring for the six kittens she brought home from a rescue mission at a private property overrun by feral cats. Lodwig, a veterinary assistant, worked with friends and technicians to rescue the mama cat and her kittens. The mission was only partly successful, as they managed to save six kittens while the mama cat and one kitten slipped away. Despite feeling guilty about separating the kittens from their mother, Lodwig ensured they would be spayed, neutered, and adopted.
She brought the kittens home on March 28 to foster, keeping them away from her own cats for safety reasons. However, Bundy was too curious to stay away and would try to sneak in to see the kittens. Screenshots from a TikTok video show Bundy taking on the role of foster father to the kittens, despite his initial hesitation. After a few days, he started grooming and caring for them, showing signs of enjoyment in their company. Bundy even tries to play with the kittens, although their size difference makes them a bit cautious. The kittens, aged between five and six weeks, will be available for adoption in the coming weeks.
Lodwig is working with the ASPCA Los Angeles location to place the kittens in their program. The heartwarming TikTok video of Bundy and the kittens has gained significant attention and praise from viewers, with many commending Bundy for stepping up as a father figure.
