Bad Boys: Ride or Die has departed from its nearly three-decade-long tradition by recasting a familiar character. The franchise, which has followed Miami detectives Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) for 29 years through three successful movies, is gearing up for a fourth installment. In the upcoming movie, Marcus and Mike join forces once again to clear their late captain's name, Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano), who is falsely accused of collaborating with cartels. Surprisingly, Bad Boys 4 has replaced Theresa Randle, who portrayed Marcus' wife throughout the series, with actress Tasha Smith.

This unexpected change has left fans of the franchise puzzled, as Bad Boys has never recast a major character before. The decision to recast Randle may have been influenced by her hiatus from acting prior to the release of Bad Boys for Life in 2020.
