HBO's "Game of Thrones" consistently shocked audiences with its ruthless narrative twists, and among these, the death of Grand Maester Pycelle stood out as a pivotal moment in the series.  Played by Julian Glover, Pycelle was a key political figure in Westeros, serving under several kings and offering counsel filled with historical and medical wisdom.

Pycelle's character, initially a stalwart advisor during the reigns of several Targaryen kings, including the Mad King Aerys, ultimately betrayed Aerys during Tywin Lannister's sack of the city—a critical act that demonstrated his political cunning and survival instinct.
