Executive producers of NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles, Steven D. Binder and R. Scott Gemmill, respectively, believe that their shows will continue as long as people keep watching. Despite the inevitable drop in ratings each year, both shows are confident they will keep telling good stories and keep going. The recent exit of Mark Harmon from NCIS didn't break the show, as it continued to perform well. However, the executive producers know that everything has to come to an end eventually. They hope that if a series finale is coming, they will receive a heads up so they can bring closure to the characters for the audience. For now, both shows have been renewed for the 2022-2023 season.
