Kelli Giddish Is Returning to Law & Order: SVU After Season 24 Exit!
11/07/2023

Kelli Giddish, known for her role as Detective Amanda Rollins in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU), is set to make a comeback in the show's upcoming Season 24 finale. This news was confirmed by E! News. Giddish's character, Detective Rollins, will reunite with her former colleagues, including Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Sergeant Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T), and Detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano). Notably, Rollins will be portrayed as pregnant in the storyline. Additionally, Giddish will reportedly appear in an episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime.

The return of Detective Rollins comes after her departure from SVU in the previous season. Her final episode aired on December 8, where her character married her former partner-turned-Assistant District Attorney Dominick "Sonny" Carisi, played by Peter Scanavino. This followed Rollins being shot on duty earlier in Season 24, after which she left the police force to teach at Fordham University.

In August the previous year, Kelli Giddish announced her exit from the long-running series through an Instagram post. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play the character of Rollins and be a part of the Law & Order family for the past 12 years. Giddish thanked creator Dick Wolf, her co-stars, the crew, and the writers for their incredible work together over the years.

Mariska Hargitay, who plays Captain Olivia Benson, also shared a heartfelt message honoring Giddish's departure. She expressed her love and appreciation for Giddish as an acting partner and friend, praising her performances and the growth of their friendship during their time on the show.

It's exciting news for Law & Order: SVU fans to see Kelli Giddish returning as Detective Amanda Rollins and to witness her character's pregnancy storyline unfold in the Season 24 finale.
