Giddish's character, Detective Rollins, will reunite with her former colleagues, including Captain Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), Sergeant Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T), and Detective Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano). Notably, Rollins will be portrayed as pregnant in the storyline. Additionally, Giddish will reportedly appear in an episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime.
The return of Detective Rollins comes after her departure from SVU in the previous season. Her final episode aired on December 8, where her character married her former partner-turned-Assistant District Attorney Dominick "Sonny" Carisi, played by Peter Scanavino. This followed Rollins being shot on duty earlier in Season 24, after which she left the police force to teach at Fordham University.
In August the previous year, Kelli Giddish announced her exit from the long-running series through an Instagram post.
