Lance Reddick, The Wire and John Wick star, dies at 60

Lance Reddick, the beloved actor famous for his roles in TV series like The Wire and Fringe, as well as movies such as John Wick, passed away on Friday at the age of 60 due to natural causes. The news was confirmed by Reddick's publicist, who requested privacy for the family during this difficult time.

His wife, Stephanie Reddick, expressed her gratitude to fans for their overwhelming love and support in a statement released on Saturday. She mentioned how Lance was taken from them too soon and appreciated all the beautiful stories and messages shared by fans.

Reddick had been busy promoting his upcoming film, John Wick: Chapter 4, where he reprised his role as Charon, the calm and composed concierge of the Continental Hotel. He had already appeared in the first three John Wick movies and was also cast in the spin-off Ballerina.

Born in Baltimore, Reddick initially studied music before pursuing acting at the Yale School of Drama. He gained recognition through his role as police officer Cedric Daniels in the critically acclaimed series, The Wire. His co-star from The Wire, Wendell Pierce, paid tribute to Reddick on Twitter, describing him as a man of strength and grace.

Known for his commanding voice and authoritative presence, Reddick often portrayed characters in positions of power, such as G-man Phillip Broyles in Fringe and the CEO Christian DeVille in Corporate. His diverse range of screen credits included Lost, Godzilla vs. Kong, Rick & Morty, and One Night in Miami. Fans were also excited about his upcoming role as Zeus in Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.

Aside from his work in TV and film, Reddick made significant contributions to the gaming industry, lending his voice to characters in popular video games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Destiny.

Lance Reddick leaves behind his wife, Stephanie, and their children Yvonne Nicole and Christopher. The family has requested donations in his memory to MomCares, an organization supporting under-supported mothers and families in Baltimore.
