While Ian Somerhalder was charming audiences as Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, Nikki Reed was captivating fans as Rosalie Hale in Twilight. Despite being part of two different vampire worlds, there is no bad blood between the couple. In fact, Ian recently revealed that he believes the success of the Twilight film franchise helped pave the way for The Vampire Diaries.

During an exclusive interview with E! News, Ian shared, "Twilight hit in 2008 — I only know that because I live with Nikki — and so we rode on the coattails of that theatrical success. We were the TV version of that." Reflecting on the passage of time, Ian marveled at how quickly the years have flown by.

Both Ian and his Vampire Diaries co-star Paul Wesley have since moved on to new projects, with Ian starring in V-Wars and Paul in Tell Me a Story. Additionally, the two actors have joined forces to create their own bourbon brand, Brother's Bond. As they reminisced about their journey from fangs to bourbon, Ian shared, "We’re brothers because we were contractually bound to live this life. But we became brothers because these boys bonded on-screen over bourbon. Paul and I bonded off-screen over bourbon." The evolution of their friendship and careers is truly remarkable, demonstrating the lasting impact of their time together on set.
