Actor Bradley Whitford, who played White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman on The West Wing, has expressed interest in a crossover event with Law & Order. Whitford suggested bringing together some of the old cast, such as Allison Janney and Martin Sheen, for special appearances on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The actor recently guest-starred on the show as a suspected murderer suffering from dementia. While some former West Wing stars have already appeared on SVU, including Janel Moloney and Joshua Malina, Janney and Sheen have yet to make an appearance.
