After Charlie Harper's departure from Two and a Half Men, the series struggled. When Jake Harper also left, Alan was left alone with Berta and his mother, Evelyn. Then, Jenny, Charlie's unknown niece, arrived. Jenny had traits similar to her father but also showed some kindness. She had a sexual relationship with Lyndsey, which would have hurt Alan. Jenny formed a real connection with Brooke and had a sexual encounter with Lynda Carter and Walden's mother, Robin. Jenny provided a connection for Evelyn and even though she hadn't seen Charlie since childhood, she stayed in touch through monthly checks. Jenny seemed to be the only one who genuinely cared for Alan, despite hurting him in certain ways. She also became a womanizer like her father. The most important thing she did was unknowingly provide comfort to her grandmother, Evelyn.
