NCIS: Los Angeles' Kensi Actor Announces Series Wrap In Emotional Post!

In an emotional post, Daniela Ruah announced the series wrap of NCIS: Los Angeles. The show premiered on CBS in 2009, tracking members from LA's Office of Special Projects - a Naval Criminal Investigative Service division that deals with undercover assignments and surveillance. Much like NCIS, the spinoff became successful, generating consistent ratings over the course of 14 seasons. In addition to Ruah, who portrays Special Agent Kensi Blye, the series also stars LL Cool J, Chris O'Donnell, Eric Christian Olsen, Medalion Rahimi, Linda Hunt, and Gerald McRaney.

It was confirmed earlier this year that NCIS: Los Angeles would end after season 14.

In a recent Instagram post, Ruah shared that filming had wrapped.

Still months away from the series' final episode, set to air in May 2023, the actor wrote that it was "an honor" to play Kensi.

What's Next For The NCIS Franchise?

Given the success of NCIS: Los Angeles and its predecessor (currently one of the longest-running shows on television), the franchise leaves questions about if there are any future projects in the works. NCIS: Los Angeles had set up its own spinoff during season 4, introducing Red Team members, and although the series never came to fruition, Scott Grimes' character did make another appearance on the show.

With the many crossovers in the NCIS franchise, an expansion, whether based on the characters in LA or not, is always possible.

The series finale postulates how it eventually concludes and if any overarching stories wrap up. Not only has Kensi Blye remained a main character on NCIS: Los Angeles throughout its duration, but Ruah directed several episodes, including some in the show's final season. Saying goodbye to a role after so many years is likely bittersweet, but the NCIS spinoff and its cast hope to finish on a strong note.

NCIS: Los Angeles, the first of three spinoffs, managed to maintain its success over 14 seasons, and with filming being over, the series finale is in sight. Audiences upset over the cancellation still have the original series, which, along with NCIS: Hawai'i, was recently renewed, suggesting that the NCIS franchise will continue. For now, NCIS: Los Angeles prepares to conclude with season 14, which is currently airing on CBS.
