The soap opera tradition of bringing back beloved characters for memorials continues to honor real-life deaths of actors on the show. Recently, Theresa and Vivian returned to pay tribute to the late Victor on Days of Our Lives. Soap Hub has created a list of characters they hope will return to honor Doug Williams when his passing is written into the storyline.
1. Maree Cheatham as Marie Horton, an original cast member of DAYS and the last surviving child of Tom and Alice Horton. She last appeared in 2010 to honor her late mother, Alice.
2. Gloria Loring as Liz Chandler Curtis, the singer who was a central character at Doug's Place.
3. Brandon Beemer as Shawn Douglas Brady, named after his grandfather Doug, would bring a sense of family back to the show. Martha Madison could also return as Belle, to reunite the estranged Days of Our Lives lovebirds.
4. Dougie LeClair, Doug's son born in the 70s via IVF, could make a return to Salem to continue Doug's legacy. The character was played by John Russon in the late 70s.
5. Kristian Alfonso as Hope Williams Brady, Doug's daughter, is essential to the memorial. Flashbacks of Doug singing to Hope would bring emotional depth to the storyline.
Other soap operas have also invited familiar faces back for memorable storylines. General Hospital and The Young and the Restless have had characters return to honor deceased characters.
The return of these familiar faces will add emotional depth and gravitas to the storyline of Doug Williams' passing on Days of Our Lives. Due to the show's production schedule, viewers may not see Doug's on-screen memorial until the summer months. The tribute episode promises to be emotional and touching for fans of the long-running soap opera.
