Actor Ian Somerhalder, known for his role in The Vampire Diaries, has announced that he will not be returning to acting. Somerhalder has been focusing his time on his family and businesses, including one with fellow Vampire Diaries actor Paul Wesley. It has been over four years since Somerhalder last acted, and since then, he has only been involved in documentary projects as an executive producer. 

Somerhalder's decision to leave acting is partly influenced by his desire to prioritize his family, his farm outside of Los Angeles, and his eco-activism work.

In a recent red carpet appearance, Somerhalder stated that he doesn't miss acting and is proud of the work he has done. He also mentioned the hard work he now puts into his businesses and how they take up most of his time. One of his ventures is a brand of bourbon, which he runs with Wesley, and they donate a portion of their profits to support regenerative agriculture. Overall, Somerhalder's decision to leave acting is a result of his priorities shifting towards his family, businesses, and environmental activism. Fans may not see him in any more on-screen roles.
