CBS’ 'The Big Bang Theory’ successfully ran for several seasons. Led by cast members Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch, and Mayim Bialik, the show remained on the air for 12 seasons. And during this time, it managed to win several awards, including Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series; Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Series; and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Parsons.
Throughout the sitcom’s production, cast members were also more than happy to show some behind the scenes photos which clearly showed that everyone was having fun. Let’s check out some of our favorites:
Summer Glau is a veteran actress who starred in the “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “The Unit,” and “The 4400.” She once guest-starred on “The Big Bang Theory” during an episode entitled “The Terminator Decoupling” and appeared as herself. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Helberg and Glau were snapped taking a selfie together.
According to Entertainment Weekly, this moment was while the cast was filming a season seven episode for the show. As you may know, Bialik is known for her portrayal of Amy Farrah Fowler, a character who later becomes Sheldon’s love interest and wife. And while she didn’t really get to do directing work on the sitcom, it was in 2019 that Bialik is set to make her directorial debut in the comedy-drama, “As Sick As They Made Us.”
Rauch posted this photo on with the caption, “While Stuart may have taken up residence in the Wolowitz household @kevsussman took up residence in a special place in my heart.” Meanwhile, actor Kevin Sussman also did a repost with the caption, “The friends you make along the way... One of the best things about showing up to Stage 25 all these years has been seeing @themelissarauch ‘s smiling face.”
Right around the time that “The Big Bang Theory” was reaching the end of its run, Bialik shared a video where she happily took fans around the show’s set. Later on, she also sat down in her dressing room and talked about her feelings as the finale neared. Bialik , “Part of me feels like, 'Oh, now I get to see what the rest of my life will look like!'”
At one point, Nayyar shared this playful photo of himself and Bialik on with the caption, “Real men don't shave their chests. They only shave their beards. At least that's what @missmayim likes;)” As you may know, their characters have grown incredibly close on the show over the years. And in fact, Nayyar’s Raj once supported Amy’s desire for a mini makeover in one episode.
As you know, Cuoco and Galecki played eventual husband and wife on the show. Meanwhile, the two also became very close behind the scenes and even dated each other at one point. Even after they broke up, their relationship never appeared strained. And in fact, this was taken by Cuoco’s now-ex-husband, Ryan Sweeting.
From time to time, the show’s cast get to enjoy some much-deserved downtime. And when this happens, they just like to hang around and share funny stuff with each other. We’re not exactly sure what Cuoco is showing Galecki, Nayyar, and director Anthony Rich in this photo. However, we do know some of the funniest videos trending on YouTube of all time. According to , these include a video about a baby’s laugh, mashed taters, and talking twin babies.
While filming an episode for the show’s seventh season, Cuoco was snapped posing for a photo alongside guest actor Brian Thomas Smith. As you may remember, Smith played the role of Cuoco’s one-time love interest, Zack Johnson, on the show. While attending a celebration for “The Big Bang Theory’s” series finale, Smith also posted a photo on with the caption, “Oh what a night!! So many emotions as we celebrated the end of an era. I enjoyed every second of my TBBT journey.”
In a sweet post from the Warner Bros. The Big Bang Theory Stage, Sussman wrote, “Gonna miss napping next to @missmayim. We nap in adjacent dressing rooms, so we simulated what that would look like if you removed the wall. Did I mention that Mayim’s room is also where I’ve had some of my most productive psychotherapy sessions? Thank you Dr. Bialik.”
The poignant moment behind the scenes was captured during the show’s fifth season. While speaking with about the show reaching its end, Parsons also said, “I guess at a personal level, it feels like the right time in my life. I don’t know what’s next for me. It’s not like there is something specific I am aiming for. I’m firmly in my middle age now. I don’t know how much longer I can wear [the T-shirts] without looking really long in the tooth. “
According to , “The Big Bang Theory’s” cast and crew took this photo just after Warner Bros. had dedicated the Burbank soundstage to their award-winning show. The plaque unveiling was symbolically held in the famous living room of the apartment that Leonard and Sheldon shared for a long time. Following the unveiling, series creator Chuck Lorre remarked, “You come to work every day to make a good show. We don't think about getting a plaque, but the plaque is extremely rewarding. It makes the show part of the history of the lot.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, “What does Big Bang's live studio audience get to see each week? Oh, just Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki as warm-up acts, celebrity guests, and so much more. If you have never had the chance to attend a taping, consider this your inside seat.” Indeed, being able to watch the show as a live audience member would have been great.
Throughout the show’s production, Cuoco and Galecki could also be seen coming out to greet the cheering live audience. According to Entertainment Weekly, Cuoco has described the energy level during taping sessions as “insane.” Over the years, it’s become clear that the show has achieved significant following. And some of these fans would do anything to watch a taping live.
Over the years, veteran actor Bob Newhart has portrayed the role of Professor Proton on the show. And when it was nearing its series finale, Newhart had a chance to chat with series creator Lorre. He recalled to the , “The last time I did [‘The Big Bang Theory’] I knew they were working on the final show. I said to Chuck, ‘You know, I had a lot of luck where my wife from my first show showed up in the finale. You might want to think about that.’”
According to magazine, this photo was taken while Cuoco, Rauch, and Bialik were attending the final table read for the show. At the same time, Cuoco shared a snap of the final script covered with lots of crumpled tissues on . That post was captioned, “Prepare yourselves ... for a finale that has truly given me a loss for words Our whole universe.”
The photo was taken as the cast and crew celebrated the show’s series finale. As you can remember, the final episode revealed some big news for Penny and Leonard – they are expecting a baby. And as the crowd cheered them for the last time, Cuoco, who was fighting back tears, yelled, “I can’t handle this.”
The characters on “The Big Bang Theory” were primarily geeks, at least the men. And so, they would often ‘geek out’ by wearing comic t-shirts or referring to their favorite comic characters. At one point, the group got the surprise of their lives when they were paid a visit by comic book legend Stan Lee. And upon his passing, the show paid tribute to Lee in a post, saying, “It was an honor to have him on The #BigBangTheory. Thank you for being a real life super hero to so many generations. Your legend will live on.”
The boys once got suited up in fat suits when they did a visual gag in season seven featuring The Cheesecake Factory. This was done during a . And when Galecki’s Leonard asked Nayyar’s Raj why he had to be fat, Raj answered, “You’d have no girlfriend to see you naked. You’d try to fill the void with food. And I’m an enabler who wants deep-fried pancake.” In response, Leonard asked Raj, “Why can’t you be fat too?”
This photo was taken as the show got ready to make its final good-bye. According to , Cuoco remarked, “I am, like, already losing it. These last few episodes have been really heartbreaking. This sounds cheesy, but I've passed the 'Friends' stage for 20 years as an actor, and I always wanted our stage to be that way. I always thought that was so cool. This is really special.”
This photo of a group hug was taken after the cast shot the show’s final episode. On , Cuoco simply wrote the caption, “Final group scene That’s a wrap.” To this day, many fans still miss “The Big Bang Theory.” And fortunately, you can still watch your favorite episodes on Netflix.
