A Vancouver Island breeder had a dozen dogs seized by the BC SPCA due to poor living conditions. Animal protection officers removed four adult dogs, including pregnant females, and eight three-month-old puppies, after receiving a complaint from the public. The dogs were found to have several health issues, including suspected parvovirus, neurological issues, lameness, eye infections, severe dental disease, and ear infections. The animals, which are Chihuahua crosses and one Shih-Tzu cross, were taken to local veterinary facilities for examination and treatment. They are currently receiving ongoing care at the BC SPCA in Victoria and will eventually be transferred to SPCA foster homes. The investigation into the breeder continues and the dogs are not available for adoption.
